Preparing for your appointment
Forms
When booking your first appointment, we will send you a few important forms for completion. For your convenience you may complete them at home before arriving to your appointment, or you may fill them out at the practice. In this case, please arrive a few minutes before your appointment to do so.
What to wear/bring
Please wear comfortable fitting clothing and bring along a pair of shorts. You may also bring your own pillow and towel to cover plinths and mats as an additional preventative measure for Covid-19. Please bring all related reports, scans, X-Rays, MRI's and referral letters.
Appointment duration
Your first session usually takes an hour, and follow-up sessions are between 45 and 60 minutes depending on the complexity of your condition.
The first visit
Assessment
Your physiotherapist will conduct an interview to gather information about your condition and to understand the problem from your perspective. A thorough physical examination will also be done and may include movement tests which reproduce your symptoms.
Treatment
Your physiotherapist will work with you to establish your individual goals and develop a treatment plan. This may include hands-on treatment, therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation, or onward referral if necessary.
After your treatment
Post-treatment soreness and sensitivity is often to be expected for a day or two after your treatment session. A heat pack is a great way to soothe any tenderness.
Rates
We submit directly to most medical aids for your convenience and charge medical aid rates. Patients are responsible for their accounts and should please settle their fees in cash if there are insufficient medical aid funds. Please contact us for our cash rates.
Cancellation policy
We kindly ask that you give us at least 4 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Appointments not cancelled 4 hours before will be charged for, as will non-attendance.
